Τεκμήριο Assembly line balancing and group working: A heuristic procedure for workers’ groups operating on the same product and workstation(2006-09) Dimitriadis, Sotirios G.In this paper, we examine an assembly line balancing problem that differs from the conventional one in the sense that there are multi-manned workstations, where workers’ groups simultaneously perform different assembly works on the same product and workstation. This situation requires that the product is of sufficient size, as for example in the automotive industry, so that the workers do not block each other during the assembly work. The proposed approach here results in shorter physical line length and production space utilization improvement, because the same number of workers can be allocated to fewer workstations. Moreover, the total effectiveness of the assembly line, in terms of idle time and production output rate, remains the same. A heuristic assembly line balancing procedure is thus developed and illustrated. Finally, experimental results of a real-life automobile assembly plant case and well-known problems from the literature indicate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed approach in practice.Τεκμήριο Investigating customer satisfaction and service quality in academic libraries: the case of Technological Educational Institute of Central Macedonia(2013) Dimitriadis, Sotirios G.; Vrana, Vasiliki; Dimitriou, Stylianos; Kalaitzis, Vasileios; Drogalas, GeorgeCustomer satisfaction and service quality policies have been established in recent years in academic libraries’ management. However, setting regulations and imposing procedures requires reliable methods to evaluate actions. The Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Central Macedonia is a university institute committed to provide excellent services to its stakeholders, by developing ongoing dialogue. In order to investigate the library users’ habits and assess their satisfaction on provided services, a survey has been conducted. An online questionnaire was developed based on MOPAB’s (Total Quality Management Unit of Greek Academic Libraries) guidelines for data collection and was then distributed to library users. Such questionnaires can be a valuable instrument for monitoring user satisfaction on a systemic manner and improving service quality in libraries. Moreover, the questionnaire could be used, after adjustments, as a benchmarking tool for Greek academic libraries. The analysis revealed that even though users do not fully utilise all services, they manifest a high level of satisfaction.Τεκμήριο On the student evaluation of university courses and faculty members’ teaching performance(2014-10-01) Nikolaidis, Yiannis; Dimitriadis, Sotirios G.Trying to determine higher education quality, one gets quickly to one of its significant dimensions, namely the quality of faculty members’ teaching. The latter and, overall, the quality of any university course should be certainly evaluated by their recipients, namely students. In this paper we develop a statistical framework based on Statistical Quality Control mainly, which can be used in order to exploit student evaluations as much as possible. More specifically we present two directions of data monitoring and analysis; the one uses control charts and the other hypotheses testing. The results that can be raised through both directions are crucial for any decision maker.Τεκμήριο Service Quality Assessment in higher education: the case of Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Serres, Greece(2005) Zafiropoulos, Costas; Frangidis, Garyfallos; Kehris, Evangelos; Dimitriadis, Sotirios G.; Paschaloudis, DimirisEducation service quality has become a major issue in higher education worldwide. In Greece it is beginning to gain attention in the last few years, mainly because it is an integral part of EU-funded programmes granted to the academic institutions. This paper presents students’ perceptions of education service quality as experienced at a higher educational institute of Greece. The survey used the original SERVQUAL questionnaire, in which only language adjustment was made, in order to fit in the academic environment. The results provide evidence that SERVQUAL can partially be used to record and attribute students satisfaction for major educational issues.
