heal.abstract | The dissertation’s main topic is how the 3d printing technology can be used in emergency situations. Research and exploration are done in the fields of emergency situations and the 3d printers technology. The design approach focuses on this technology can be adjusted in an actual rescue environment. Starting with research on emergency situations and the categories of it we focus on the use of 3D printers in aiming them. The research continues by analyzing the ways this technology applies in crises and what are the main reasons it has started to play an important role for them. Challenges of 3D printing in rescues are explored and some devices that have already been used and proved helpful are shown. 3D printing is explained briefly and basic software, printer types and material are presented. After this wide research and a lot of different options and possibilities were found. Benchmarking was done in portable printer models in use and a qualitative method of research was chosen to continue, interview of the Hellenic rescue team. Along with some online interviews reviewed the design needs to bring this technology in practice were discovered and a system is designed according to them and presented. | el |
