This paper aims to present the impact of Three-dimensional (3D) Printing, known also as Additive Manufacturing (AM), on Intellectual Property (IP) Law, while highlighting the effects of its growing application on important domains of everyday practice. After a short history of 3D printing up to date, the definition of 3D printing and the technical stages of this digital process are analysed. Further, IP rights applicable to the 3D printing process, are considered, primarily Design rights, Copyright, Trademark and Patent rights, along with a systematic review of legal challenges relating to IP Protection, Exceptions and Limitations, Infringement and Licensing. Furthermore, key themes are outlined through an analysis of the application of 3D printing technology on cultural property and on necessities arising during the ongoing pandemic. The analysis leads to thoughts and recommendations on the sufficiency of the current IP regime to protect IP rights in the age of 3D printing technology and concludes by arguing in favour of an alliance between 3D Printing and IP law.en
