In an era characterized by rapid technological advancements, the tourism industry has undergone a profound transformation, necessitating a shift towards the digital landscape. This dissertation delves into the critical aspects of digital skills within the context of tourism in Europe, with a specific focus on Greece. The first subject delves into the digital skills necessary in the tourism business. Because online interactions are rapidly dominating the globe, tourism professionals must be trained with a diverse set of digital skills. By outlining the EU's digital skills framework, this research elucidates the standards and benchmarks set forth by the union to ensure a harmonized approach to the digital skills required within the tourism industry. Third, this study evaluates the role of education in nurturing and advancing digital skills within the tourism industry. It highlights the importance and contribution of education in preparing the workforce for the digital demands of the tourism industry and hospitality. Lastly, it examines the specific initiatives and education courses adopted by Greece to enhance the required digital skills. As a renowned tourist destination, Greece faces unique challenges and opportunities in aligning its tourism industry with the digital age.
