According to its economic growth and activity, a tourist economic unit (hotel) provides to visitors short term shelter. Indicators of hotel service quality, vary based on relatively subjective criteria such as amenities and interpersonal relationships. Measuring quality in the hospitality sector, Front office (FO)employees play an important role in terms of understanding customer expectations and satisfaction. However, it is important to recognize that service quality specifications between different levels of staff differ to some extent. This paper aim is to identify and report customer service quality factors related to the standards attributed to front office employees by managers. A qualitative approach in the form of open questions and a quantitative one, regarding a perceptions’ scale (from one to ten),was adopted to understand the standards’ role, importance and challenges according to5 FO managers in the Greek hotel industry. Its first stages of the internal evaluation of the institution, as well as to the final stage of the procedure the external evaluation by experts and the authorship of the external evaluation report. We will also emphasis in the case of the Department of Informatics and Communications of TEI of Central Macedonia. Moreover, we will see the external evaluations of two other Departments of Informatics, the Information Technology Department of TEI of Thessaloniki and the Informatics Department of TEI of Athens. Finally, we will contrast the three Departments, in order to find their similarities and differences, as well as to see how an Educational Institution in the province can stand next to two Educational Institutions of two major cities of Greece. The aim is to provide a solution to the requirements relating of the clients who constantly increasing day by day. The requirements of these focus mainly on product quality although this company was applying the standards ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP and certified with them. Basically the company interesting to be able to annihilate and hassles the complaints of clients with the aim to managed to maintain the Brand Name in Greek and foreign market in which they already had acquired. For the above reasons, the Quality Council of the factory decided to certify with the standard ISO 22000:2005 FSSC (Food Safety System Certification). With this way wants to prove even the most demanding customers that follows specific procedure having as its purpose to assure them that you care just for them and their desires. For about a year the Company is realizing step by step the requirements of the standard that referred above. It hopes to achieve the objectives and to be certified under this standard (ISO 22000:2005 FSSC) the current July or August so be prepared for the new production process of the year 2014 will begin in September. Το Μουσείο ιδρύθηκε το Μάιο του 2021 στην Κατερίνη, με την ονομασία «Logic, Μουσείο Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας», ως Μουσείο-Εργαστήριο του Τμήματος Διοίκησης Εφοδιαστικής Αλυσίδας, του Διεθνούς Πανεπιστημίου Ελλάδος (ΔΙΠΑΕ). Το Μουσείο, ξεκίνησε τις εργασίες του τον Ιανουάριο του 2023, και λειτουργεί, τις πρωινές ώρες για τα σχολεία που το επισκέπτονται στο πλαίσιο των εκπαιδευτικών δράσεων, και τις απογευματινές για το κοινό. Σκοπός της συγκεκριμένης έρευνας είναι η αξιολόγηση και η βελτίωση των παρεχόμενων υπηρεσιών του Μουσείου, μέσω της μέτρησης της ποιότητας των υπηρεσιών και της ικανοποίησης του επισκέπτη. Η ποιότητα για να βελτιωθεί πρέπει πρώτα να μετρηθεί, και αυτό, επιδιώκεται με τη συγκεκριμένη εργασία. Για τη μέτρηση της ποιότητας χρησιμοποιήθηκε το εργαλείο SERVQUAL των Parasuraman, A., Zeithaml, V.A. & Berry, L.L., ένα ερωτηματολόγιο 58 ερωτήσεων κλειστού τύπου, που μετρά πέντε διαστάσεις ποιότητας (αξιοπιστία, διασφάλιση, υλικά ή απτά στοιχεία, ενσυναίσθηση, ανταπόκριση). Σύμφωνα με τα συμπεράσματα που προέκυψαν από την έρευνα, η ικανοποίηση των επισκεπτών του Μουσείου Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας είναι υψηλού επιπέδου, και άρα το Μουσείο παρέχει ποιοτικές υπηρεσίες στους επισκέπτες του. This research focused on which are the values perceived by consumers while using Airbnb. The use of both primary and secondary research was applied in this research. Secondary data includes the use of books, journals, e-journals and web information are used to investigate on the theoretical perspective toward the value created by Airbnb and perceived by consumers. Primary data are generated through questionnaire with Airbnb users. The process established assisted this study to reach a data triangulation and draw the study to a conclusion. The result of this study has assumed some key values that have been perceived by consumers, which the primary reason drawing people on choosing Airbnb is the Economic Financial Value. Moreover, some additional or secondary values compared to hotels are discovered through the research, which are Unique Experience, Variability on Choice, and Better Amenities Room.Τεκμήριο Bin Packing Problem: a parallel implementation(Τ.Ε.Ι. Due to the complexity and the existence of numerous variables and parameters, this problem refers to NP-hard problem, which makes the convergence to optimal solution hard to be achieved. Initially, the benefits, as well as, the advantages that can be gained by the parallel computing are described. Then, concepts such as data partition, speedup, efficiency, Flynn’s taxonomy and Amdahl’s law are analysed. The dissertation here is related to the “bin packing", a well-studied problem in theoretical computer science. Briefly, we describe the Bin Packing problem and the goal we want to achieve. Then, we will consider that as the number of data increased, we observe that the running time increases exponentially. In order to reduce the execution time for large datasets we perform data partition, which is a technique of parallelization of algorithms. So, we describe and compare the serial and parallel implementation and how they work. In particular, we focused on MATLAB and specifically on toolbox Distributed Computing Toolbox™, which has functions for the creation and implementation of distributed and parallel operations. More specifically, we answer the following question: will the serial execution of algorithm or the parallelization of algorithm be beneficial to us?Τεκμήριο Class Hijacking in Differentiated Services Wireless Networks(Τ.Ε.Ι. IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is one of the most widely de-ployed wireless network technologies in the world today. As the use of wireless networks in-creases, so does the demand for better service in terms of less delay for voice and video traffic. The IEEE 802.11e standard was introduced to enhance the support of time sensitive applica-tions (QoS) such as video streaming and voice over the internet protocol (VoIP) in modern WLANs. The access mechanism of IEEE 802.11e, referred to as Enhanced Distributed Chan-nel Access (EDCA), assigns to different types of data traffic different priorities based on the QoS requirements of the traffic, and for each priority it uses a different set of medium access parameters to introduce QoS support. The differentiation is realized in each wireless node by grouping traffic flows into categories implemented as priority queues. The criterion for this flow aggregation is based on marking the flows at the network level and inserting frames into the appropriate queues. These queues are called Access Categories (ACs). IEEE 802.11e de-fines four Access Categories (ACs): AC_VO (voice traffic), AC_VI (video traffic), AC_BE (best effort traffic) and AC_BK (background traffic). AC_VO and AC_VI constitute the mul-timedia ACs and AC_BK and AC_BE are called non-multimedia ACs. Inserting low-priority frames into high priority queues will influence the service levels of the multimedia packets. These “invading” frames can be the cause of dramatic network QoS deterioration that may alter (under certain circumstances) completely the functionality of IEEE 802.11e downgrading it to the legacy IEEE 802.11 DCF behavior. The marking procedure typically takes place at layer-3 of the protocol stack. However, one may intervene at this marking process and abuse the class-based functionality to the benefit of low priority traffic. The act of intentionally al-tering the marking on low priority frames in order for them to receive increased priority is called Class Hijacking. The main topic in this thesis is to investigate class hijacking and de-velop a MAC-layer mechanism to confront it. By enhancing the EDCA QoS mechanism in an effective and optimal way, it is possible to detect signs of hijacked traffic and ultimately re-instate the standard EDCA functionality. The customers interact with employees and through this interaction they receive the service or product they wish to buy. As a result, the better the service by the employees, the higher the satisfaction of the customers. Moreover, this interaction can lead to additional positive or negative results for the organization. Therefore, it is obvious that the role of employees is very important and their management by the organization should be a high priority matter. Furthermore, organizational communication nowadays is not only more complicated but at the same time very important for an organizational success and functioning. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how communication and customer management may affect tourism businesses performance. Additionally, customer service and organizational culture will be assessed since there are factors that can affect business performance and are related with communication and customer management. For this reason, a quantitative research was conducted with the use of a questionnaire and the findings among others show that there is a positive correlation between organizational culture, communication and customer service with the performance of tourism organizations and specifically the performance of hotels.Τεκμήριο Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR)(Τ.Ε.Ι. Η εργασία εστιάζει κυρίως στην δημιουργία του κατάλληλου λογισμικού που θα υλοποιεί τα επιμέρους τμήματα μιας ολοκληρωμένης εφαρμογής, λειτουργικής για τον χρήστη και όχι τόσο το αλγοριθμικό μέρος που αφορά στα χαρακτηριστικά και την ταξινόμηση των εικόνων. Επιμέρους τμήματα εννοούνται εκείνα τα συστατικά του συστήματος που υλοποιούν την επικοινωνία με τον χρήστη, με την βάση δεδομένων, και την μηχανή σάρωσης του διαδικτύου (εστιασμένο ερπετό ή crawler ή αράχνες). Επίσης σκοπεύει, να δομήσει ένα αρχιτεκτονικό σχέδιο για την πλατφόρμα του CBIR και να εφαρμόσει τα κομμάτια που απαιτούνται για να αποδειχθεί η εγκυρότητα του σχεδίου αυτού. Το σημαντικό χαρακτηριστικό του έργου είναι ότι επιτρέπει στον ερευνητή να ασχοληθεί αποκλειστικά με τις τεχνολογίες αιχμής που αφορούν την αναγνώριση αυτή καθ’ αυτήν των εικόνων και όχι το τετριμμένο μέρος της εύρεσης τους από το διαδίκτυο ,ή της προσπέλασης του όλου συστήματος από τους χρήστες και γενικότερα τεχνικά θέματα που δεν άπτονται του αλγοριθμικού μέρους. Generally, marketers want to offer pleasurable experiences to the customers across channels, not only better services. Customer experience incorporates company- customer interaction that includes both functional and emotional clues developed through different touch points (Khan, Garg and Rahman, 2015). This research brings an understanding of customer experience quality in hotel operations. Since the term “Customer experience” has become a very commonly used phrase in recent years, but still difficult to find a clear definition, it is actually very challenging to conduct a research on this phenomenon like “innovation” and “design”. Hence, the focus of this undertaking remains on identification in depth the customer’s needs and expectations in hospitality industry, guided by observations, perceptions and collected information at Marbella Nido Suite Hotel and Villas, on Corfu island in Greece. This paper aims to distinguish “Customer experience” term, to provide an answer on questions such as- what it encompasses, how to structure it, how to approach and improve it. The project exposes all aspects, touch points and highlights of customer behavior, journey and experience. Firstly, it is provided theoretical background based on academic articles and sources relevant to the thesis title both in hospitality and in any other industry. Gathered data and analytics become a key to generating a better customer experience. The goal is to capture the real essence of customer experience construct. Results showed significant influence of customer experience dimensions on customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction influences both brand loyalty and word-of-mouth, and the indirect effect of customer satisfaction on word-of-mouth through brand loyalty is much strong. Eventually, in an effort to prioritize the changing customer experience and involvement in hospitality, the final purpose is to discuss found results of the study and to recommend new potential experiences that would make satisfied, fulfilled and loyal customers, leading to both increasing sales and more profitable and gainful tourism industry.Τεκμήριο Design and Implementation of a Hardware Accelerator for one-Dimensional signal Filtering Operations(Τ.Ε.Ι. The window design method was followed and the filter was described in VHDL. The design tool used for the synthesis of the filter is Quartus II v. 9.1 by Altera. Modelsim by Mentor Graphics was used for simulation, in order to verify the filter operation and the accuracy of the results. The comparison with a software-based implementation of the same filter demonstrates that the filter meets the requirements. Bottom-up hierarchical design was used. The various components were first described in VHDL and then they were instantiated in order to produce the top design entity of the filter. Such filter components that need description are the shift register for the creation of the convolution window, the ROM stage where the filter coefficients are stored, the computationally demanding parallel multiplication stage and finally, the accumulation and normalization stage, where the output sample is computed. Specifications for the necessary data types were defined and alternative implementations of specific stages were tested, as a means to establish best design methodology. We find that a filter with 101 coefficients can reproduce the original double precision filter specifications using just 14% of the resources of a Cyclone II EP2C35 low cost FPGA device. Also, it can achieve a maximum clock frequency of 50 MHz.Τεκμήριο Design of a UASB application for biogas recovery from industrial wastewater(Τ.Ε.Ι. The majority of human activities produce wastes without any environmental treatment resulting in negative consequences such as pollution of air and water. Also the power demand of contemporary society increased the consumption of fossil fuels with known results for all of us (Greenhouse effect). Nowadays, on world agenda are Renewable Energy Resources because they can secure the energy supply and due to environmental friendly reasons. One emerging energy resource is biomass which can be used directly via combustion or indirectly by converting it into forms of biofuel. One form of biofuel is biogas which produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic digestion). Exploitation of wastewater streams for biogas recovery via anaerobic treatment is nowadays widely accepted as a well-proved technology and extensively used. One of the main factors leading to the success of anaerobic treatment is the introduction of high-rate reactors in which biomass retention and liquid retention are uncoupled. High-rate anaerobic reactors that can retain biomass have a high treatment capacity and, therefore, low site area requirement. Several processes have been developed to operate anaerobic digestion reactors, each of them having several advantages. One of the most common is the UASB process that has successfully been used to treat a variety of wastewaters, exhibiting positive features, such as high organic loading rates (OLRs), short hydraulic retention time (HRT) and a low energy demand. The purpose of this work is to present the main features and conclude with the conceptual design of an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Bed (UASB) reactor, being operated for the treatment of the wastewater stream of a medium-sized dairy industry. The biogas produced in the UASB application is used for the operation of a cogeneration unit for the production of thermal and electrical energy, which, in this sense, can be characterized as renewable. For start and to fully understand this procedure it will be presented the fundamentals of anaerobic treatment with basic design considerations of all aspects. Also this paper will present the characteristics, the factors that influence it, the benefits and disadvantages of an UASB reactor which basically is the “heart” of the whole process. A literature overview is also presented. In Chapter 2, Aerodynamics of Wind Turbines, one dimensional Momentum theory is applied to an annular control volume for the determination of the thrust and torque applied on an annular cross section area as a function of the flow conditions. Also there is a presentation of the airfoil’s nomenclature and their lift and drag characteristics. In Chapter 3, Blade Design for Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines, after the actual blade profile is separated into elements of equal length, blade element theory is applied to each blade element for the determination of the forces applied at each element for specific flow conditions, taking into consideration the effects of rotor’s geometry characteristics, including chord and twist distributions. Betz’s and Schmitz’s methods are applied to calculate the chord length and pitch angle distributions. Blade Element Momentum (BEM) or Strip theory is used for the calculation of the axial and angular induction factors taking into consideration the tip loss effect. An iterative process is necessary for the calculation of the axial and angular induction factors and the performance of the rotor. The originality of this Thesis lies in the fact that, three different approaches from the relevant literature are used in the same work for the accomplishment of the iteration process and afterwards the results are compared against data from a commercial wind turbine. A Visual Basic tool to perform calculations has been developed. In Chapter 4, The Calculation Tool, pitch and stall regulation are briefly presented. Afterwards the airfoil profile is clarified, with NACA 44XX series being our choice. Guides for the usage of the tool and the choice of the necessary input data values are given and the functions of the tool, through its Excel interface are presented. In Chapter 5, Results, the optimal blade chord length and pitch angle distributions are calculated as well as the rotor’s performance at the design conditions. The evaluation of the tool follows, for each one of the three approaches used for the iteration process versus Vestas V52 and finally a parametric analysis is made for different number of blades. In Chapter 6, Conclusions-Recommendations, a synopsis of the basic findings is presented. Η πλατφόρμα αυτή δημιουργήθηκε με σκοπό την εκμάθηση των βασικών αρχών λειτουργίας των αυτόνομων ρομποτικών οχημάτων σε μαθητές - σπουδαστές αλλά και την περαιτέρω διερεύνηση αυτών των αρχών. Θα περιγράψουμε αναλυτικά τους στόχους που υπηρετεί η συγκεκριμένη πλατφόρμα, τα επιστημονικά πεδία τα οποία ακουμπά και αφού αναλύσουμε το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο στο οποίο βασίζεται θα προχωρήσουμε στην περιγραφή τεχνικών λεπτομερειών που αφορούν την κατασκευή και τη λειτουργία της. Θα περιγράψουμε το εύρος των συμπεριφορών που είναι δυνατόν να αναπτύξουν τα ρομποτικά οχήματα (Duckiebots) μέσα στην πόλη καθώς και όλες τις δυνατές επεκτάσεις αυτής της πλατφόρμας. Τέλος θα εξετάσουμε το αν και κατά πόσο η συγκεκριμένη πλατφόρμα μπορεί να διεισδύσει στην πρωτοβάθμια και στην δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση ως ένα ελκυστικό μέσο για την εκμάθηση κάποιων βασικών αρχών ρομποτικής στα πλαίσια σχετικών μαθημάτων και αν εναρμονίζεται με τους βασικούς σκοπούς του αναλυτικού προγράμματος σπουδών σε κάθε εκπαιδευτική βαθμίδα και τάξη.
